The Vintage Outside Story

By | What's going on | No Comments

In the spring of 2015, an idea born out of a love for nature and vintage art met the perfect artist.

“You know those vintage National Park Service posters, the ones from the 1930s?” I asked Ryan Corrigan, a friend with the James River Association here in Richmond. “How cool would it be to make posters like that celebrating iconic James River locations in Richmond?”

Corrigan loved the idea, and he immediately thought of the perfect artist to turn the idea into reality. “Let’s call Chris Camera,” he said.

Four months later, we released the first four in what is now a growing art series featuring regional natural wonders – the places that outdoor enthusiasts and locals love. We started in our hometown of Richmond, Va. with Belle Isle, Pony Pasture, Pipeline Rapids and the Atlantic Coastline Railway Bridge, and have since released three more art series: Washington, D.C.; another one in Richmond; Austin, Texas; and New York City.

You can buy the limited edition fine art quality prints signed by artist Chris Camera, posters (also very frame worthy), pint glasses, note cards or t-shirts. Take a look around, and see which you like best. The coolest part: a hefty portion of the proceeds from every sale goes to support local charities in all the cities and their work protecting natural resources.
